On November 16th, we held our Annual Gala Dinner at the Hotel InterContinental, in Madrid. This event is the closing ceremony of a transformation year, which was recognized with the Georgetown International Club of the Year Award. We were honored with the attendance of distinguished executives of Georgetown University, led by Tom Banchoff, Vice-President for Global Engagement.

The night started with a cocktail hour enlivened by piano music, followed by a plated dinner. Our president, Rubén López Rivas, went over the activities organized throughout the year, as well as our strategic plan to keep improving our Club. Then, Tom Banchoff gave us an update on Georgetown’s global community. We also awarded Sam Sanders for his role in maintaining the engagement between the international clubs and the university. Additionally, Rosemary Murray Blake was awarded Hoya of the Year, for her support during the year, and for being an ambassador of Hoya’s values ​​in Spain.

The dinner was followed by a raffle, live music, and an open bar; putting the icing on the cake on a fantastic night.
